The Colours of Anthropology: A Visual Anthropology Exhibition, 2018

Impressions was an exhibition at Tributary Projects showcasing my photomedia work with the glass works of Australian artist Madeline Cardone . Centering around an inquiry of material and process, Impressions explores the final “image” as a production of a particular action through experiments in glass and photography. The curation was a collaborative process between myself and Cardone.

My investigation focused on the materiality of joss paper and its underlying Taoist philosophies by exploring an alternative ritualistic process involving water instead of fire.

Cardone explored the tension between form and material through the absorptive and reflective qualities of black glass and its relationship with shadow and light.
